Depart hotel for sundown on the Blue Ridge Parkway We will travel by caravan to Chuck’s favorite overlook on the BRP to photograph the sunset. Sunset will occur at approximately 6:55pm. It can get very cold on the Parkway in Oct. Bring a heavy coat.

Have you ever seen a beautiful picture of the Milky Way as it stretches across the night sky, hovering above expansive and majestic landscapes? It’s not as hard as it seems, and you don’t even need a telescope! Join me as we explore the basics of astrophotography (settings, scene selection, light painting, etc.) inside and outside the classroom to learn how to create beautiful nighttime images! We will begin in the classroom teaching the basics of astrophotography and reviewing all of the crucial steps you need to know to create a night sky photo. Then, we will venture out into the night and apply what we learned inside the classroom to create vivid astrophotography landscapes. At the end of the course, you will possess the basic knowledge to create a portrait of the night sky that will wow and impress your friends!
Plan to be on the Road to Randy’s studio in Shelby NC by 9am. It will take approximately one hour to travel from the Hampton Inn to McNeilly Photography in Shelby. For those from the Central or Eastern region of North Carolina this will put you closer to home. If you have never been to Randy’s studio you are in for a treat. Studio address is 1241 Fallston Road Shelby NC 28150. Lunch will be provided by Bridges BBQ.
